 OUR 2016/17 TERM NEWS

COMMITTEE
Our ECO Committee members are elected twice a year (P1, P1/2, P2/3 and P6 in Feb and P3/4, P4/5, P5 & P7 in Sept). Children apply and present to their class, the class then vote and select two class members.

Our current ECO Committee (from 22 Feb 2017)

ECO TOPICS - WE WANT EVERYTHING LIMITED

Following completion of the Environmental Review Checklist in October 16, the following areas were identified as our focus areas for the period ahead :-

Waste Minimisation, Water, Energy, Sustaining our World and Food & the Environment

Sustaining our World and Food & the Environment were a whole school focus on our short week in November (14th-16th), when related activities to these topics were carried out by each class.

Plans are now in place for Waste Minimisation, Water, Energy and Litter (mandatory).  The ECO Committee (in line with the results of the Environmental Review Checklist) have established the action points and a class will now be responsible for working on the plans ensuring the entire school are behind ECO and working towards our green flag.

P4-5 Waste Minimisation / P3-4 Water / P5 Energy / P6 Litter

This is our new mnemonic to remember what EVERYONE in the school needs to help to improve :-

 Waste Minimisation
 Water
 Energy  Litter

WE WANT EVERYTHING LIMITED

ECO CODE

An Eco Code is an Eco-Schools mission statement. It should demonstrate in a clear and imaginative way, our school’s commitment to improving its environment and it should be memorable and familiar to everyone in the school.  The whole school had the opportunity to create our new ECO Code and we received many brilliant entries.  The ECO Committee met and short listed the entries then choose the winners (use this link to view all the entries - http://www.dunbarneyprimary.org.uk/News/Galleries/?SSID=14389)
We had so many great entries that we managed to choose our new ECO Code PLUS an ECO Poem and an ECO Rap.

WINNERS
ECO Code - Charly and Carina (P7)

ECO Poem - Johnny (P6)                                       ECO Rap - Daniel, Ethan, Harvey,  Jameson & Matthew (P7)
